Zero To Alpha wisdom #15: The return, end of the road at 68 and memes that hurt feelings

By September 19, 2024 No Comments

This month has been full of opportunities for me to return to the things I enjoy the most. This Substack is one of the things I looked forward returning to. It has been a couple of months since I posted the last Substack (read it here). After a couple of attempts to return to writing, something always popped up and that resulted in no content creation whatsoever.

Another thing I returned to recently was fighting. After a hiatus of 6 months I was finally be able to compete again. To this day, it’s still a mystery why I had to wait to compete so long. I was in fight shape, and was open to fight anywhere. Yet every time I got booked, they cancelled it. Even the trainers at my old gym were complaining about it. The only way that I was able to fight again, was to change gyms.

Which brings me to my next point..

End of the road at 68…

After COVID when Muay Thai picked up again, I started competing at 68 kg. This was very close to my walk around weight. The reason I picked this weight was simple, I never cut weight and the Thai way of cutting weight seemed horrible. The first fight at 68, I won but I felt naturally small in comparison to my opponent. After that, I went down to 67. That was the only time 67 was offered to me.

After that I only got offers at 68 and 69. The fights were hit or miss because of the weight being close to my walk around weight. If the opponent had a similar frame, I’d manage to get the W. If the opponent had a bigger frame, I mostly struggled with the power.

This became very clear when I fought in prison. The match up was at 68 but there was 36 hours between weigh in and the actual fight. Something that didn’t get mentioned to us until we were there so I barely cut weight while most other guys did cut a lot of weight. The prisoners didn’t cut weight, so my opponent walked around at 68 kg but he was stocky. After that fight, the first thing I told the promoter was that I wanted to go down.

He nodded but kept offering me fights at 68 because no one was available at 67 they said. Back then, I didn’t want to decline fights because I feared that was going to get pushed to the side by saying no. This was a mistake on my part and something I will go into in my next substack.

This time I accepted the fight at 68 because it was on short notice. The fact that I didn’t fight for 6 months obviously played a factor in me saying yes to this fight. But I also mentioned that this was going to be the last one at 68. Because originally I asked for 67. But it was the same story, besides Saenchai no one was available at 67. And the Saenchai offer was a funny one looking back on it.

Luckily for me, I’m at a good gym. They declined the Saenchai offer before I even heard of it. They also agreed with me moving down to 65 kg after my last fight. A weight I can make safely because I have the knowledge to do so plus my weight dropped naturally without me even trying during my last camp.

A main takeaway here might be to educate yourself about weight cuts or hire a nutritionist. fighting people simular your size will be better for your health.

So this is the end of the road at 68, at least for now. Maybe I’ll consider it again if I have more experience or an intriguing match up. But for now, that door remains closed.

Memes that hurt feelings.

People on Instagram are quite familiar with my Socrates Pinsinchai memes. The memes often contain truth but are written in a way it comes across as a joke. Over the past few months a couple of people decided that the memes were about them and contacted me about it. I got messages like “this meme is about me right?!”.

There’s obviously something we can learn from this. Most people have gigantic egos and think everything is about them while in reality, people don’t think about them at all. Secondly, when you make a general statement, it obviously doesn’t target a single person. It is mostly about a group of people and you could be part of that group. It’s all about bringing people together and create a group feeling no?!

Taking something personal from someone you don’t even know will always be funny to me. The fact that they take this personal says more about them to honest. Shouldn’t you ask yourself why something upset you instead of being upset? It’s easy to blame others but it’s a lot harder to actually confront yourself and see what you’re insecure about.

In the end, people who take themselves way too seriously are the easiest to make fun of. Literally anything you say can make them go on a longer rant than your crazy ex girlfriend. They’ll probably also unfollow you only to peak at your stories again. Only to wonder if it’s still about them. See why I compared them to the crazy ex girlfriend?

These are probably the people that talk about ego death, doing ayahuasca to heal themselves and they probably also recommend the book the subtle art of not giving a fuck. Only to have an ego trip and actually give a fuck when they see a meme with a general statement.

It’s almost like these people want to be made fun of.

In the end, if the shoe size fits, you might as well wear it. The same goes for a general statement.

So the memes will keep coming.

Nutrition Coaching

Over the past few years, I’ve coached fighters helping them heal their metabolism and lose weight. In the past, I didn’t really promote it that much but now I want to focus on this more because I enjoy it. If you have issues losing weight, not fueling properly, have a damaged metabolism you can message me the word “nutrition” on Instagram.

In this 3 month program, I help you heal your metabolism, teach you how to lose weight without burning out and how to cut weight for a fight and much more.

On training and fighting in Thailand

Thinking about coming to train or fight in Thailand? Like mentioned before, not learning about the culture is one of the biggest mistakes you could make.

That is why I wrote my e-book to fully prepare you for your upcoming trip. You can buy it here.

Struggling with porn?

Porn keeps poisoning young men, and most don’t know how to stop using it.

The mainstream methods out there never tackle the root cause, only to make young men frustrated and relapse over and over again.

You could keep doing this over and over again, or you could use a method that gets you off porn in two weeks.

The choice is yours.

Get my porn detox course here.

Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram.

Until next time.
