Have you ever thought about the meaning of life? Have you? Congratulations you’re officially a smart human being. We all think about the meaning of life but nobody seems to find a deeper meaning. Recently I figured out a theory and I decided to write a blog post about it. I couldn’t get it out of my head.
I started to talk about it with my buddy Luke from Sweet Machine Fitness (I wrote a guest post for him, check it out here) and he was like dude, this sounds familiar. My theory had similarities with a story called The Egg. It’s written by Andy Weir and I was hooked after reading it. It’s just my theory in a short story.
You can read the whole story here or you could read my post. I’ll promise you that it’ll be entertaining.
The meaning of life: so many theories, so little good answers
Most people think about the meaning of life when they’re drunk. You can’t deny it but sometimes you’ll get some really deep conversations when you’re drunk
I’m never drinking alcohol again but I’m still thinking about these things. I still think about the meaning of life but maybe that’s because I was close to committing suicide? I guess that’s the reason why I started looking different at philosophy and religion.
One of the things that intrigued me the most was that religions have so many things in common. They all have their unique takeaways but the bottom line is just the same. I’m not tied to a particular religion and I’m not claiming that one is better than another.
I just want to make a point that hate and racism should be banned out of this world. Racism is an act of cowardice! So the theories have things in common but the one thing that surprised me the most was the fact that reincarnation was a returning factor.
All these religions have a deeper meaning but nobody seems to know what it is. They all cover the meaning of life and death. They all do it but nobody seems to get that these are more than just books and stories.
It’s time to inject some knowledge into your brains
Life’s a test can this be the meaning of life?
(Re)birth?
Are we born or are we reborn? That’s a pretty good question, isn’t it? I’ll go deeper into this later in the post but let jump right to the (re)birth of a child.
You have to face one fact we are born as equals. Some are born as a boy while others are a girl but there’s no difference. I believe that we’re all born with a blank mind that’s shaped by our environment and by ourselves. So yes you decide for yourself if you’re going to achieve greatness or not. People who expect to be successful, expect to be liked and expect to be popular everywhere they go, most are.
So you get into the world and start discovering things. Everything is innocent and sometimes you make some mistakes but in the end, you’ll learn from it.
Distractions, distractions everywhere
At one point you’ll get old enough to decide things for yourself but this is not easy. You have to decide to stop following the herd, you’ll have to accept hate because you stand out. You’ll have to deal with failure and worst of all there are so many distractions in life.
I think that all of these distractions are part of the meaning of life. Just think about it, you already have a lot of distractions now. Social media is accessible 24/7, you can binge-watch almost every television show or movie online.
Every weekend you can go to parties and even during the week you can stay up late go out and get drunk. It’s possible to escape reality by drinking alcohol, taking drugs or both. You have access to so many people thanks to dating sites
Just keep swiping right to meet the not so right person. Everybody is looking for distractions just out of boredom. You’re prone to all these distractions when you’re not committing to a clear goal in life. In my opinion, life is all about picking the right goal and doing everything to make it succeed. Most people already find this in their childhood but all these dreams get crushed.
But the bigger you become the more distractions you can get. There enough famous people who get on a sidetrack due to drugs, alcohol, women, boredom and so on. Some get it and return like Michael Phelps did while others never recover.
It will take patience because there’s no shortcut to success
Most people want to take the easy way out. It’s a bit the coward way out as well. Most CEO’s of companies know this and they use it all the time. Get abs in 90 days, become this is that many days and blablabla. There is no shortcut to success. It will take blood, sweat, and tears to get what you want. It won’t take minutes, hours, days or months but it will take years to be successful.
Most people give up after a week and after a week you just have faced boredom. You won’t have faced failure or adversity in the first week. Most people quit before it gets though and believes me it get though. I planned to release my post near the end of January. It didn’t go according to plan. I had a lot of setbacks but 6 months later Zero To Alpha was alive and kicking.
Do the laws of the jungle still apply?
In the jungle there’s one simple law: the strongest will survive but this still applies to our modern-day lives. Some people just can’t get a grip on their lives and do everything to escape it. They make it worse by making poor choices and end up committing suicide or they become crazy and never recover. Some face depression and never feel the feeling of joy again.
Our minds are really powerful things and they really can make or break you. You won’t like this but the ones with the strongest minds will get most out of life. It looks like they’re doing everything flawless but in reality, they had and still have to work hard.
Nothing worth having comes easy in life and all the free things are mostly crap.
There’s only one thing that you get for free in life and that’s your life.
The hardest worker in the room will get all the rewards
It’s all about never getting satisfied in life. Some people get satisfied once they achieve something rather small. To this day on I still don’t get why so many people are peacocking so much about a degree. It’s a piece of paper that makes sure that you have to work until the age of 65 or even older.
How can you be happy with that? Degrees are also a distraction in my opinion. They put you to sleep and you get a job that puts you even more to sleep. Face it, you have to work an 8-hour job but most of the time you’re doing useless tasks just to fill the 8 hours.
It even gets worse when you get higher and higher on the ladder. Suddenly you have to work 12 hours a day instead of 8 and it’s all for someone else. You burn out and they become rich.
You worked 3 years or more to a degree but you are afraid to work three or more years towards your dreams? What would be the most satisfying in your opinion? A degree or realizing your dream? You can do both as well, it doesn’t matter. Some people dream of being doctor others want to be an athlete.
It doesn’t matter what you want just to get out, start grinding and make it happen.
The meaning of life: be true to yourself
You can’t live life to its fullest if you’re not being the real you. It’s impossible to be happy if you constantly have to act like someone else. I always thought that I liked going out but actually, I hated it. I only liked it when I was drunk and forgot about the night. Those were the “best nights”. So many people are afraid of being real. They are afraid of what others think of them that these people don’t even know what they have to think about their selves.
The most confident people don’t hate others but support them. We all have some special character traits and only the insecure will hate them because they’re afraid. They are cowards who’re afraid to be real to themselves and they project this insecurity towards other people.
I’ll remind you of something that’s known for thousands of years.
“Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner- Lao Tzu”
“Because one believes in oneself, one doesn’t try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn’t need others’ approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her- Lao Tzu”
Lao Tzu has passed the test, there’s no doubt about that. That guy has a lot of great quotes.
Be true to the real you. It’s the best feeling in the world and sure there will be hate but who cares about that?
So how do I do it?
Many ask me how I stay true to myself. How can you be happy when there are more and more people who hate you or talk behind your back is one of the most frequent asked questions. I’ll always answer the same: I stopped caring, I’m not others prisoner anymore.
Can it be that easy? It can and it always will be that easy.
Depressed people live in the past, anxious people live in the future and the ones who’re at peace live in the present.
I was depressed and was living in the past. I was anxious because I was living in a false future. Now I’m at peace and live in the present to work on a better future.
Does death give a meaning to life?
We all have to die and we all start to revise or life when somebody close to us dies. We all complain about the wasted time and so on but after a while, most people go back to their old lives. Maybe it’s a sign to do something great before you die?
The meaning of life is to give something back
Just realize that you’re blessed when you’ve achieved something in life. But then it’s time to give back. You don’t get the meaning of life when you’re greedy and keep everything you’ve learned for yourself. You can’t pass the test if you’re not passing all the knowledge.
The biggest present you received was your life, now it’s time to start giving back.
The meaning of life and love
Many people have become egocentric. We all want to protect our petty feelings. We all are trying to find the one but we are too stubborn to admit it. Everybody wants to settle but we’re all afraid to do it. We’re all craving for freedom but secretly we all want to be tied down. Many people forget that you’re free in the right relationship.
Many people forget that there’s no such thing as the one. The one is just someone who’s grown mature and realizes that everybody is the one when you’re willing to work for it. Some people are never capable of doing this. That’s probably because you need to give back to love a person.
We all know this but nobody wants to admit it. The comfort zone is a really dangerous one because nothing grows there.
Life isn’t that hard, people just make it look that way. It’s all about leaving your precious comfort zone.
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ― Lao Tzu
Well, this post is turning into a Lao Tzu fan post but the guy has a point once again.
It’s easy to be loved but a lot harder to love someone.
What happens when you’re dead?
I think you’ll meet something or someone (no clue what or who you’re going to meet) who’s going to tell you if you passed the test. You’ll probably get an explanation about the true meaning of life. You’ll get eternal rest once you’ve passed the test. Maybe you’ll live on forever in a different place who knows? But now one question arises: what if you don’t pass the test?
I’m assuming that you’ll reincarnate into a new life with a new change. You return with an empty mind which remembers nothing from all your previous lives.
I just realized that I’m comparing life to a video game. You “respawn” back into a new life until you make it. It’s real-life GTA.
So what are you waiting for?
Why shouldn’t you try to make your dreams come true?
Is it that bad to give up going out to work on your goals? Loneliness isn’t bad, it’s quality time with yourself when you’ve got a goal. You’re not able to be happy in life if you can’t occupy yourself.
You can’t get the meaning of life if you’re not giving meaning to your life.
So what are you waiting for? The next change in a new life? Maybe you’ll be born in another environment that’s not as good as this one.
Be grateful
Work hard towards your best self. (read here how you can do it)
Give something back
And make this life count.
This is my life and I’m going to make it count. Just repeat it after me: this is my life and I’m going to make it count.
So what’s your take on life? Let me know in the comments. I’m curious about others their visions.
A riddle to end this post
My blog is not like all the others.
This blog represents the real me and that’s what life is all about.
Before I give you the riddle there’s one thing you’ll need to know. Dafalgan is a painkiller that’s sold in Belgium and some other countries around the world.
So here’s the riddle:
How do you call a painkiller that’s only for real men?
Alphagan.
