People who know me know that I’m big on reading. I do it every single day and learned a lot from it. Other people, on the other hand, read the same books and don’t get the same out of it. Strange isn’t it? Two people read the same book and somehow one gets more out of it than the other person. Well, it’s all a matter of perception of course but what I’m about to say will shock you. There are people whom I gave a whole booklist and they still were the same person after they finished it. Well, I don’t know if they read them all, I can only believe what they claim right?! I’m pretty sure that some of them have read all of them. Those people read books and forgot about the looks and they learned nothing.
Why some people shouldn’t start reading.
I always claimed that I changed my life by reading books but this isn’t true. Well, it’s partially true. Books helped me along the journey but there was something a lot more important. I took action when I had too. I changed my life by taking action and not by consuming tons of books. That’s what most people don’t seem to get. They read a book and they’re like “oh I already know this stuff”. It’s like reading a book on a certain diet when you’re out of shape. You know that you need to eat healthy to get in shape but you still read a book about it. That book can turn into multiple books while you’re still out of shape and not eating healthy. The same goes for dating, changing your life and so on.
Reading can become a form of procrastination over time. You’ll read so much that you don’t change a single thing in your life. Which is pretty sad if you ask me. You’re using your valuable time to improve to procrastinate and you don’t even realize it.
I do have one book recommendation though.
The book is called Unfuck yourself: get out of your head and into your life (buy it here). It’s a book that might make you rethink all your past actions and even your future actions. I finished it 2 days and took action right after I finished it. Life is way to short to wait until opportunities pop up. You’ve got to create opportunities. So unfuck yourself and start living before it’s too late. You can procrastinate a certain amount of time but after that, you’ll die just like everybody else. You’ll die with tons of regret and unused potential.
Sounds like hell if you ask me.
Don’t forget to check out my book. The ones who read it liked it.
