The last people remember

Alcohol is probably one of the most popular drugs in our society. Can this boost testosterone? Can it lower testosterone? People link alcohol to hangovers but can’t you link it to more than this? Most people claim that they don’t need alcohol but those are the ones who’re drinking alcohol first. They don’t need it but are happier than a dog that’s going out for a walk when they see alcohol. They just don’t bark and jump from excitement.

Most people who have to deal with loneliness or problems consume way too much alcohol. They throw away the painful boomerang called loneliness and it comes back twice as hard. You drink alcohol and puke it back out the same night or the morning after.

Alcohol and testosterone aren’t the best friends

Men experienced a direct testicular drop in testosterone and an adrenal rise in cortisol which lowered the testosterone even more. All these men were exposed to high levels of ethanol. So too much alcohol can even make your cortisol levels rise and we all know that this is unhealthy.

Research has also shown that drinking two alcoholic beverages a day lowers your testosterone levels. I know more than enough guys who’ll drink two beers a day and they aren’t that manly. Moderation is the key and alcohol is no exception to this rule. No exception at all.

Binge drinking all the time can lead to an increase in estrogen levels. Alcohol inhibits the activity of an enzyme called aromatase. This enzyme will convert your testosterone into estrogen (the female sex hormone).  The enzyme may be a mechanism for the feminization of some male alcoholics. The researchers didn’t know if moderate consumption would have got the same effect.

Alcohol is pretty destructive

There was oxidative damage in the testicular Leydig cells, the supporting Sertoli cells, and impaired hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. This means that a local reduction of testosterone will occur in your testicles.

So alcohol only damages the testosterone that’s still in the testicles. That’s no big deal right?! Well, I’ve got some bad news for you, you won’t like the next study.

Alcohol can destruct some testosterone molecules that are already in circulation due to the elevated cortisol levels.

Besides everybody knows that alcohol lowers testosterone but nobody is smart enough to make the connection. How many of your friends haven’t you heard complaining about the fact that they could perform after a night of binge drinking? Booze lowers testosterone No wonder men can’t get Jack on the rack after a night of binge drinking. So how do they solve this? By drinking much more the following weekend. What did you expect?

Some of the dangers of too much alcohol abuse

Alcohol consumption has been linked to more than 60 diseases. This is a ton of diseases in my eyes and some of them are deadly as well. The sad thing is deaths by drunk driving didn’t even make the list.

James C. Garbutt, MD, professor of psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and a researcher at the university’s Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies said:

“Alcohol does all kinds of things in the body, and we’re not fully aware of all its effects. It’s a pretty complicated little molecule.”

  • Anemia

The number of oxygen-carrying red blood cells are abnormally low due to heavy drinking. Anemia triggers a host of symptoms like fatigue, shortness of breath and lightheadedness.

  • Cancer

Habitual drinking will increase the risk of cancer.

  • Cardiovascular disease

Heavy drinking can lead to a heart attack or even a stroke.

  • Cirrhosis

Everybody knows that alcohol is very toxic for the liver but almost no one seems to know Cirrhosis. This is in some cases a lethal condition. The liver is so heavily scarred that it is unable to function. Women are more prone to this disease.

  • Dementia

Heavy drinking leads to brain shrinkage which results in memory loss and other symptoms of dementia.

  • Depression

Alcohol and depression go hand in hand. You try to drink way all your problems. The ultimate question is what caused what. Science doesn’t seem to know the answer. But a large study from New Zealand showed that heavy drinking caused depression and not the other way around.

  • Seizures

Alcohol can cause epilepsy but also seizures in people who don’t have epilepsy.

  • Gout

This a painful condition that’s caused by the formation of uric acid crystals in the joints.

  • High blood pressure

Binge drinking can cause a rise in blood pressure which can become chronic over time. This can lead to other health problems such as kidney disease, heart disease, and stroke.

  • Nerve damage

Nerve damage or alcoholic neuropathy can be caused by heavy drinking.

  • Pancreatitis

Overconsumption of alcohol can cause stomach irritation and it can inflame the pancreas. Pancreatitis is not treatable.

No more beer over here

Belgium is best known for his beer, French fries and chocolate Three out of the three things that make us famous lowers testosterone. Good job Belgium, no wonder that the maximum range for testosterone is only 925 ng/dL. I’m one of the lucky guys who never liked beer and I’m gluten intolerant.

It’s the worst beverage that you can consume for your testosterone levels. Beer declines those and raises your estrogen levels even more than any other alcoholic drink.

Hops can increase your estrogen big time

Hops have an extremely estrogenic effect and this is proven by a pretty remarkable study. They asked women to hold hops in their hands. Just hold it, nothing more and nothing less. This resulted in disturbances in the menstrual cycles due to the higher estrogen levels. Pretty crazy right but there’s more.

There are male brewery workers who suffer from sexual dysfunction due to long exposure to hop (phytoestrogen in hops to be precise). Furthermore, there are tons of stories of women who work in the fields with hop who suffer from irregular menstrual cycles due to the exposure to hop.

So show this blog to the next guy who constantly claims that beer is the manliest drink there is.

The beer belly is due to alcohol

Alcohol is probably one of the most popular drugs in our society . Can this boost testosterone? Can it lower testosterone? People link alcohol to hangovers but can't you link it to more than this?

The beer gut

Beer contains a lot of calories and most people aren’t aware of this fact. A normal beer has the same amount of calories of three slices of bread while a strong beer has the same amount of calories of seven slices of bread.

Alcohol can increase the appetite so you’ll eat more calories after drinking the beer. Beer, like any other alcoholic beverage, also contains empty calories which means that they are worthless but still make you fat. They supply you with energy but have almost no nutritional value.

Your liver will work on processing alcohol so all the other calories are stored as fat.

Conclusion

Avoiding alcohol during the week and going overboard in the weekends is not the way to go.

Till next time

When it comes to alcohol my wife and I just avoid it completely! And does that make us less fun than those out partying away? Of course not. Learning to have a good time without it is key, but like you said, people get addicted and don’t even realize it

Nice approach, I’m glad that I’m not the only one who doesn’t drink alcohol. Yeah most people are really addicted and will be for the rest of their lives.
